This Amish quilt was purchased at a charity auction known as a "Mud Sale" in Pennsylvania. Each year starting mid February through the first Saturday in April these "Mud Sales" are held to raise money for the local volunteer fire departments throughout Lancaster County and its surrounding areas in Pennsylvania. The auctions are called "Mud Sales" because it's usually very muddy due to the snow melting and the ground thawing. I'm not sure what the quilt design is known as, but it is a embroidered and hand quilted . Primary colors are dark green (sort of a forest green) and white . The quilt has white binding on all four straight edges . The back is the same green as the front and the white stitching does show through, so this quilt could be used with the back side up for a different look. The feather circles are embroidered in dark green with lime green centers. T is a quilted design in each small white square that carries over to the corners of the larger white squares. This is a light weight quilt , so it could be used for a spring and/or summer quilt. T are some thread tails visible . I left them attached because this is how I bought the quilt. This allows you to better see how the work is done. (B430)This quilt is one of the smaller ones. It measures 84-inches by 104-inches , so it could be used on a twin size bed or a full or queen bed with a bed skirt . It is pictured on a pillow top queen bed with a short footboard. Please email before bidding if you have any questions or want more pictures.T may still be some pencil marks visible , but they will probably disappear after the first washing . The Amish use pencils to mark the quilting templates so they know w to stitch. The quilt is made of cotton and is machine washable in cool water. The Amish recommend adding 1-cup vinegar to the first wash to set the colors. Can be machine dried on low, but air drying is best . However, since this quilt does have some hand appliqued work, you may be better off having it dry cleaned. Please see our other items for more handcrafted items.
