Ampex AG 600 Reel to Reel Tape Recorder This is a transistor preamp version of the famous Ampex 600. The unit was formerly rack mounted so it has no case. I tested the unit and the deck performs all functions correctly. The recorder records and plays back but the recorded output is not as loud as it should be. I think this may be due to head wear. The transistor electronics work great. The deck is much improved over the old 600 model and it plays 3-3/4" per sec. or 7-1/2 ips. This is a mono machine with 3 heads. If you want to own a piece of audio history--this is it! Due to age the recorder is sold as-is.
