These all were found on the Little Colorado Basin in Arizona. Many were found in a normally dry wash that empties into the Little Colorado River. The rest were dicovered up higher on the shores. I like to look right after a flood, as the painting appears fresher. The old ones found on the flats often have sun-bleached the paintings away. In this collection are: Black-on-White, Black-on-Red, and Basket-Weave, included is a large rim, and some stone tools. The stone tools were found alongside the shards. Many in the area are made out of colorfull petrified wood. The seller understands the tools were used to cut the hide off the game animals. And also to scrape the fat off of the hides. These stone tools were usfull, as they were often broke very sharp when created. The nomally dry wash makes a perfect habit, because of the large waterholes in them, they will last long into the drought. Near the larger water holes are often found many petroglyphs. The seller collects photos of these glyphs whenever he discovers a new one. These must be left alone to preserve them. Even the skin oil from hands can cause them to erode faster. They are evidently very old, by existance of patina darkening them. The seller does the most he can to help preserve the ancient cultural habitats, even so his posterity can gain knowledge an experience from them. read more
