Anastasia Red, from FABERGE's "IMPERIAL EGGS" Collection Beautifully packaged in its original blue box, this ruby jewel of an egg on its own little stand contains a surprise - a beautiful crystal egg pendant on a golden chain. In addition to the necklace, also included is a certificate signed by one of Faberge's top executives. Egg in stand is about 2 3/4 inches high. Chain on egg is approx. 17 inches. The history: For Easter 1885, Czar Alexander III gave his wife Czarina Maria Fedorovna, a Faberge Egg. The gold and jeweled trewasure opened to reveal a miniature "surprise", in which sublime playfulness combined with superb craftrmanship. The Imperial Egg of 1885 was the first of many the famous Russian Jeweler, Peter Carl Faberge (1846-1920), was to create for the czars and czarinas of Russia.
