I'm presenting a very rare, very tribal, camel wool rug, 72'' x 40'', most probably woven by nomadic South East Anatolian Kurds, often called Antab.
True camel wool throughout the field of the rug is increasingly rare. , we have camel pile on a goat hair foundation. The repetition of squares in the field is like a design of ceramic tiles, serrated leaves form seemingly endless octagons, and t are crosses, horns, latch hooks, stars, and blossoms throughout the design. McMullan refers to this prototype as a rare "Lotto Variant". The pile is medium high throughout the rug, and has only moderate wear in a few places. The selvages are rewrapped and the ends are secured. T is one blue 4" x 3" patch (see photo 3). All dyes are natural. You also can see that the weaver used wool from two differently colored camels. The rug has been professionally cleaned.
