ANATOMY OF A MURDER (1959)Vintage original 27 x 41" (68 x 105 cm.) One sheet poster, USA, James Stewart, Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara, Arthur O'Connell, Eve Arden, Kathryn Grant, George C. Scott, dir: Otto Preminger; Columbia. A superb poster and one of the most famous of all Saul Bass designs. So much so that is has been named number 1 of "The 25 Best Movie Posters Ever" poll by Premier Magazine. Highly controversial when it was released, it is now considered one of the finest courtroom drama films of all time, and a classic. Much of the controversy was over words used in the courtroom which included "contraceptive" , "panties", "penetration", and "rape." Preminger used top rate talent for this superb script and the film included one of the finest jazz scores of all time, provided by Duke Ellington. All the controversy and boycotting of the film did not distract the Academy from acknowledging the film's brilliance. They nominated it for seven Oscars, including for writing, for actors Stewart, O'Connell and Scot, black and white cinematography and best picture. A truly iconic poster. This is an extraordinary example -- unbacked and unrestored, with colors perfectly fresh. Folded, with two very minor fold separations, NEAR MINT.This is one of an important group of really great posters and lobby cards I have currently listed on ebay. read more
