Up for auction is an Anchor Hocking Glass Company, Fire-King Oven Ware Line, Red Dot, Polka Dot Mixing Bowl in Excellent Plus Condition. This Fire-King Bowl has no chips, cracks or rough spots of any kind and I can see only a few very light scratches that do not show up unless you turn the bowl under a light until you can see them. This is a real Fire-King bowl, not a reproduction and the bottom is fully marked with the word Fire-King in between the words "Oven" and "Ware". Under the word ware is the number "19" and then below that it reads "Made In USA". This bowl is about 4 1/8 inches tall and the base is about 2 5/8 inches in diameter. Across the top it measures about 5 5/8 inches and it has a reenforced rim, so the actual inside measurement is about 5 1/8 inches in diameter and it weighs almost 3/4 of a pound at 11.9 ounces exactly. I have now near the knowledge about glassware as I do about pottery or porcelain wares, but I believe this red polka dot pattern with its large red dots became popular in the 1940's and it has become a highly desirable collectible today.
