This has got to be one of the most attractive and well preserved ANTIQUE ALL WEATHER ANCHOR LIGHT/SHIP'S LANTERNS you will ever find. The lamp itself is 11 1/2 inches wide and 14 inches tall. With the top and bottom bails/hangers extended it is a whopping 2 feet and two inches tall and weighs 15 pounds. Made of brass, copper and iron, it was manufactured by the R.C. Murray Co. Limited Llockshaws, Glasgow, S,1. Manufacturers plate clearly shows serial number "LAMPADS No. 1076. If I'm not mistaken, this company was one of the contractors used by White Star Lines when they constructed the TITANIC and other ships. This light looks very sister like to the mast light that was visible on one of the underwater shots of the Titanic's wreck. This light has been in my personal collection for over thirty years. Soon after acquisition I converted it to 110volts AC and it has been on display in my living room as a conversation piece and room accent light ever since. When doing the conversion, I saved all the original electrical hardware (bayonette and double pin type socket--see picture) so that it can be easily converted back to ships voltage. (28volts DC I think!) Various parts of the lamp are hand hammered while others appear to be cast. And most important, it houses a nearly perfect heavy FRESNEL LIGHT AMPLIFICATION lense.
