ALEXANDRIAN FROG CULT LAMP FROM ANCIENT ALEXANDRIA EGYPT. This small piece is an excellent example of the life and style of ancient Egypt. It is 2 1/2âe(tm) wide and 3 1/4âe long and dates from Ca.200BC-100AD. It is of molded terra-cotta and has the stylized frog motif signifying its ceremonial signifigance. The frog syblolized the earth and the rebirth of the Nile each year and was later addopted as a Christian symbol. This artifact is in mint condition and guaranteed authentic and comes from one of the finest ancient art dealers in the nation. All paperwork will accompany the piece.
