Up for auction is an Eau forte originale (etching) from Andre Derain that portrays the illustration of two nude men. It was taken from the book "Petrone Le Satyricon". If I'm not mistaken, It's "Planche 13" which means Board No. 13, the 13th picture in the book) Andre Derain was a French artist born in 1880 who died in 1954. The "Satyricon" first was produced in 1934, but I understand that a lot of the etchings were done in 1951. I don't know much about art in general and Andre Derain in particular. My aunt was an artist and an art collector, and when she passed away she left me a great deal of paintings, etchings of which I really do not know the value . I researched on Google for the Derain etchings and one of the results was that one of Derain's illustrations of the Satyricon sold at an auction house for over $2,000 and it wasn't signed. The ones I'm posting on Ebay are signed. But again, I know nothing about art. That is the reason why I'm selling it at a discounted price. The outside frame of the picture measures approximately 20"3/4 x 17"7/8, while the inside picture is about 10"7/8 x 13. On the bottom left of the frame is hand written:"Eau forte originale "and underneath it, "Petrone: Satyricon". On the bottom left of the frame is the signature "Derain"I will ship it priority mail and should you need more insurance on it, please read more
