ANDRESEN MONK PAN (2992) C.I. 9" Pancake Ball(Griswold) we have an interesting and uncommon looking antique cast iron 7-Well "ANDRESEN" MONK PAN (or Aebleskiver/Ebleskiver) Scandinavian Pancake Ball Pan made by GRISWOLD which measures approx. 9" in diameter (add 6" for the curved handle) x 1 5/8" side high, and is in very good maintained (used) condition with no cracks or warping, although it has not been cleaned since acquired because the previous owner kept this pan in great shape with use not too long ago. (NOTE: Alfred Andersen founded a business called "Alfred Andresen & Company, the Western Importers" in 1896 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He left the firm in 1913, and the name was changed to "The Western Importing Company." This company was not a manufacturing company, but an importer and distributor. The pattern number 2992 identifies this pan as one made by GRISWOLD for the Alfred Andresen company.) This Scandinavian treat is made by putting a batter mixture into each of the 2 3/8" round wells (or cups) and turning them with a fork until golden brown. T are many different recipes that can be found on the internet, apple being one of the most popular...or just plain with raspberry jam is often served. This cast iron Monk/Aebleskiver Pan heats evenly, retains the heat, and with consistent care it will last a lifetime. Came from a well cared for private collection, however the exact age is unknown, circa 1900-1915. This item weighs approx. 4 lbs., add 2 1/2 lbs. or so for the packing box and packing material.
