Bakelite Anemometer or Airmeter by Davies of Derby in original leather case. 4 inch diameter fan blades. Body marked, J D & S. 1621. Z 622. This instrument records the amount of air passing through the fan blades. (Probably in feet.) It uses four dials measuring 0 to 99. 100 to0 to 9999 10,000 to 99,000. Used, but clean and still very sensitive. Walking while holding the instrument will make the fan turn and the dials record. A silver coloured plunger type switch (above dial) resets all the dials to zero when pushed downwards. The silver coloured switch on the top (centre, by handle) starts the dials recording when pushed to the right. This meter stands on two small feet, can be suspended from the metal ring on top, or mounted on a screw thread in the base. Dimensions of case ........5.5 x 5.5 x 3.0 inches. (140 x 140 x 75 mm.) The leather case is marked Davies of Derby. 4" Anemometer on the top of the lid. Inside it has various calibration corrections for this instrument, No. Z 622. There is a short leather strap attached to the case as well as two belt loops. The case is in good solid condition, well stitched, but has been written on possibly with chinagraph type pencil, and has a few other marks. (See photographs.) Weight including case ..........650 gms.
