Anfrie French Soldier 'Le Bayard' antique metal statue

For auction appears to be Charles Anfrie sculpture 1905. This is an early and rare original sculpture measuring around 17 1/4" in height - it is a large and old piece. "Le Bayard" was one of Anfrie's most famed pieces and is mentioned in a few books, most notably in "Bronzes: Sculptors & Foundries". This sculpture was produced for a handful of years in bronze and white metal. I have seen originals with two types of stands, one with land mines and one without(t still may be more out there. This is a white metal edition of the sculpture that looks to be using a mold that was from the 1905 (one person said 1904) If you are unfamiliar with Anfrie, his story is definitely worth looking up. Although he has over three hundred bronze and white metal editions that are notable, he was virtually unknown the entire time he was alive. The majority of his work was military in nature.This is a very large sculpture, as mentioned previously, so it is rather majestic to view. It is in nice overall condition. For the age of this piece, the condition is very nice. The statue still has the original axe and missing the sword (I have only ran across one other original in the past 15 years that had both items). This is such a nice piece, the size of the sculpture is not easily apparent in the pictures... but it definitely draws the focus in a room. If you were going to purchase an original Anfrie at some point - this is one that you will hate that you missed. Please do your research, ask questions before bidding if sure you want it.
