~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~
This auction today is for this Amazing Antique French quilt piece that dates from around 1840-1860~ ~*~* What a treat. This textile is amazing. Dating from around the middle of the 19th century, this wonderful textile has been printed on the front side most likely using block printing or perhaps even a mill engraving technique. The design incorporates the most wonderful Indienne floral with stunning use of picotage to give life and movement to this textile. The colors are amazing also. They include purple, faded reds, pinks and a nearly white background. This quilt piece is made on the front of this design, and on the back is a lovely black neat. The background is white and the design charcoal. I would not be surprised in the slightest to discover this was a work of the Jouy factory itself, although I have not documents for this print. The cottons are both very finely woven, and t is a layer of cotton batting between. All quilting is hand stitched. A wonderful texile indeed. !~*~* This piece measures 3.34feet by 3 feet ~( 102cm by 93cm) ! ~ ( I do have more pieces if required) The condition is very good for its age. This piece has been laundered at some point. T are some tears in the fabric on the lower left side that are one to two inches long, and other smaller tears around also, but generally in very good condition for its age~*~ ( piece one) A wonderful and very very rare textile indeed~*~ . ~ Please see my other Antique French fabric auctions by clicking View Sellers Other Items~*~ ~*~Please see my other items for more textile treasures~*~ ~*~For weekly updates, please add me to your favorites list !~*~ ~*~Important information~*~ Customer satisfaction is extremely important to me!
