An Ansonia shelf clock that is in good condition, except as noted below. It runs okay, and strikes the hours on a spriral gong and one time on the half-hour. It’s 14-1/4 W x 21-1/16” H x 4-3/4” D. The movement has a number stamped into the lower right corner: "9-1/2". The case is in good condition except for a missing part at the top. You can see this clock on page 471 of the Tran Duy Ly book on Ansonia Clocks & Movements (1998 edition). It is identified as the “BUFFALO” model and it is approximately 100 to 110 years old. I think something may have been done to the finish as it doesn’t look original to me, it may have been refinished at one time. The glass is clear and does not have an etched design as is customary, so it has probably been replaced. The paper dial and hands are in good condition. The door hinges work okay and are the hinge screws are tight. The door has a catch on the left side that holds the door closed. The original pendulum is included. A key is not included, but it takes a common no 6 or 7 key. This clock was purchased at a garage sale, so its’ repair history is not known to me. Although it is running and striking the hours properly now, it may need cleaning and oiling sometime in the future, and it may need other adjustments after shipping. Please examine the pictures and judge the condition for yourself. read more
