This Ansonia shelf clock is in good condition for a clock from the 1800s. The clock runs, but the springs are overwound and the chime needs work. The movement needs a little tlc, but it runs. A little history on the Ansonia Clock Company: The Ansonia Clock Company began producing clocks in 1850 in Ansonia, Connecticut. After a fire and a change of ownership, the business reopened in 1879 in Brooklyn, New York. It manufactured gallery, shelf, and mantle clocks with wood and china cases. China cases, like this one, were imported from Clemens August Porcelain Factory in Bonn, Germany. The firm was established in 1755, and, after receiving royal endorsement, became identified as Royal Bonn. The movement in this clock is marked Ansonia Clock Company/ Patented June 14.81. The case is marked on the back La Virgin Royal Bonn. This is an excellent clock for any collector. The clock runs but stops because of the overwound spring. Someone who knows clock repair could easily get this movement repaired and the chimes adjusted. PAYMENT BY PAYPAL ONLY!!!!!! WITHIN 5 DAYS OF AUCTION'S END!!!! SHIPPING AND HANDLING TO BE DETERMINED BY WINNER BIDDER'S ZIP CODE AT END OF AUCTION
