ONCE IN A LIFETIME DISCOVERY: ANTIQUE LACES AND TRIMS FROM OLD NORTH CAROLINA (COASTAL) ESTATE. Area was first settled in 1745 (discovered in 1521) and still contains old settlements. Some of the Old ESTATES are now liquidating. We are not experts and based on references, we are describing to the best of our ability and we are certainly going out on a limb with this gorgeous piece. This Auction is for ANTIQUE 1800S or Early 1900s BUCKINGHAMSHIRE (?) LACE COLLAR - Still has the original pricing tag attached. TAG: "Empire Patent" and "1/12" (English price?) It is creamy ecru color and quite large. Very soft and with textured design. Breathtaking and Museum Quality. Was well preserved in old muslin fabric. Approximate measurements: (laid out on mannequin 21" across, with neck opening total 26-1/2" measured with soft tape and 7" WIDE. . Notes about antique laces: We are not experts however, we are purists and do not clean, mend, etc. Pieces may contain strings, expected age discoloration, stains, etc. Most of our clients either want the work as found or they wish to launder themselves. We will try to mention all flaws we see. When we attempt to launder, and we usually don't, we use "Francine's Fine Linen Soak" (available in our ebay store).
