ONCE IN A LIFETIME DISCOVERY: ANTIQUE LACES AND TRIMS FROM OLD NORTH CAROLINA (COASTAL) ESTATE. Area was first settled in 1745 (discovered in 1521) and still contains old settlements. Some of the Old ESTATES are now liquidating. We are not experts and based on references, we are describing to the best of our ability. This Auction is for GORGEOUS LARGE ANTIQUE EMBROIDERED BATISTE - the finest Batiste - silky feel and opaque. Beautiful Embroidery - we count 6 layers of different patterns forming the scallopped edges. Lacy edge, daisy chain, nosegay, daisy and leaf chain, buttonholed holes, profuse roses and leaves, 3 rows of (our favorite) Dots. 10" WIDE! and Pinked, never used top edge. 3-1/4 YARDS OF HEAVEN! We never see this type of exquisite Organdy anymore - especially with the beautiful, dainty embroidery. EXCELLENT CONDITION, no tears, strings, etc. - Well preserved in old muslin fabric. YOU ARE BIDDING ON 3-1/4 YARDS AND 10" WIDE. When we first discovered this piece, it reminded us of Napoleon - guess it was the profuse, rich layers and scallops. Notes about antique laces: We are not experts however, we are purists and do not clean, mend, etc. Pieces may contain strings, expected age discoloration, stains, etc. Most of our clients either want the work as found or they wish to launder themselves. We will try to mention all flaws read more
