Up for auction is a first edition copy of the Mark Twain book entitled "Roughing It", this was published in 1872 by American Publishing Company. This is the best copy of this title I have ever seen, it's in remarkably good condition considering this is one hundred and thirty seven years old! I have taken ten photos for you to view, if I have omitted anything important to you, please email me. I am not certain if this is a first or second state / first edition. It does have the following details: Capital "E" in Eastern on page 330, line 23 Capital "T" in Trees on page 156 Reads thirteen instead of sixteen on page 156 Word "he" is present but "his" is missing on page 242 Tissue over frontispiece Advertising present on page 592As stated previously, this beautiful book is in excellent condition. T is an ink stain on the third blank page (see seventh photo) in the upper right hand corner, t is a bit of wear to the very top of the side binding (see ninth photo), the cording is exposed on the bottom of that side binding (see tenth photo) and the upper and lower right corners are worn on the edges. Otherwise, it's in really fine shape! It's tight, clean and intact. This book came from the estate of a life-long antiquarian first edition book collector, he was very particular about what he purchased, he only bought the best! This is one such example, it's really a wonderful book. Please email me with questions.
