Antique 11 carat Aquamarine pin brooch 14K gold 1860's This is a very unique and beautiful antique. This is from the 1860's. It is inscribed in the back of the gold pin portion with ''Lyda Bentel''. We believe that it is 14 karat gold, and an appraiser gave it a ''most likely though not marked as such''. The stone is 11 carat aquamarine, a member of the beryl family, it is in the lighter blue color category. T are some very minor scratches on the surface of the stone, I looked through a magnifying glass and found them. Technically you could melt down the gold as it is worth quite a bit as it is. The stone according to the Gem Pricing Guide is under the medium category and 3 carat plus is up to $750 per carat. The stone is approx. 13mm by 11mm. This beautiful pin or brooch is very old and the gold is intricatly engraved on front and with the name on the inside. Aquamarine is the birthstone for March in Modern times, October for Arabic and Hebrew and Roman, the planetary stone for Pisces and the sun sign for Scorpio. The pin itself is approximately 2'' long.
