This is a listing for an antique burlwood cigar humidor I purchase in 1975 at Harrods in London. While in London I visited Harrods and being a cigar aficionado and pipe collector decided to purchase a few items from Harrods. I ended up purchasing a few Dunhill pipes, Cuban cigars, pipe tobacco and a Antique Burlwood Humidor. The Harrods clerk showed me a number of 100 year old humidors that Harrods had refinished with new seals and cedar on the interior. Harrods left the exterior as found, but reworked the interior. I was informed that these humdiors were at least 100 years old. Now this was in 1975, so today they are over 136 years old. In an effort to be helpful, Harrods removed all the Cuban Cigar wrappers, repackage them along with the Antique Burlwood Humidor and sent them to me at my USA address. While in London I started breaking in my Dunhills. I paid $500.00 for the Antique Burlwood Humidor and that and more for some of the Dunhills, which were new and not antiques. I still have many pipes that I paid that much for, and many that are worth more than I paid for the Humidor. The reason that I state this is, that this Humidor is a large piece of wood and pipes are small pieces of wood. I have seven more Humidors, but none are antiques, nor as unique as this one with the textured genuine burlwood. This is a genuine antique item from a world famous emporium, Harrods. I googled Harrods and entered Humidors in Harrods search engine. It only brought up one Humidor, which is the Ralph Lauren Haywood Humidor, which retail at Harrods for 1,300 pounds or $2,100.00. The Ralph Lauren Haywood Humidor is a black finished humidor without any character or outstanding wood. It is only the Ralph Lauren name that makes that humidor costly. The Antique Burlwood Humidor I offer here is unique and beautiful. Since it is old, it has a few crack and scratches, which I show in the picture. This only adds to the character. If it was perfect it would not be 135 plus years old.I will start this no reserve auction at what I paid for the humidor, $500.00 with Free Shipping within the USA. I am also adding a buy it now for $2,500.00.DESCRIPTION :Exterior Dimensions : It is 10 15/16 inches (10 15/16") wide by 7 7/8 inches (7 7/8") in depth by 5 3/8 inches (5 3/8") in height. The exterior sides are 7/16 inches (7/16") thick. The lid sides are 7/16 inches (7/16") thick.Interior Dimensions : The interior is cedar lined and measures, 9.25 inches (9 1/4") by 6 3/8 inches (6 3/8"). The interior cedar chest sides are 3/8 inches (3/8") thick. The cedar side measure 3.75 inches (3 3/4") high from the interior bottom. The interior depth of the top or lid is 7/8 inches (7/8").Exterior Description : The exterior is burlwood. The bottom is green felt that is become thin with wear. The top or lip has a brass plaque for initials or family crest. There are four (4) areas that has small age cracks, that I have shown in the pictures. There is a lock with a key but it does not lock. The thirty-five years that I have owned it, it has never locked. Interior Description : The interior cedar and seals were replaced by Harrods some 35+ years ago. Harrods also installed a new humdior humidifier. I have stored many cigars in this humidor including the ones I purchased at Harrods and was never disappointed with the cigars being too dry.As I stated shipping within the USA is FREE.
