ANTIQUE LARGE 14K SHELL CAMEO OF GODDESS DEMETER, RARE! Description : Breathtaking large old antique hand carved shell cameo depicting mythological great Olympian goddess Demeter, sister of Zeus! This is simply a remarkable cameo, that wouldn't be seen any time soon again! In Greek mythology Demeter was goddess of the Bountiful Harvest and Fertility of the land. Classical carving of Demeter , or also known as Ceres, was always depicting beautiful women with gorgeous facial features and large wheat stalks in her hair. is a perfect example of such carving. In this particular carving you will find superb execution of highly detailed profile of Goddess Demeter. Locks of hair are gently caressing her beautiful Roman neck . Deeply carved eyes, straight nose, round chin and full sensual lips make this carving very special and it proudly stands out from the rest! Carving is large, very impressive and highly detailed, that could only been achieved by experienced master carver. Absolutly gorgeous. Framed in beautiful elaborate 14k yellow gold ornate roped deep bezel setting with folding bale and c-clasp pin. This impressive cameo is very old and originated from Italy.
