Double your traffic. This is a charming c. 1800 novelty toy probably meant to amuse an adult. It is a small beautifully grained ox bone egg that unscrews to reveal a tiny tea set stored inside. The tea set is also carved from ox bone. There are four cups and saucers, with the saucers attached to the cups, a sugar bowl, a candle stick, and three pitchers. The candle stick has a tiny chip at its base, seen in the close up, and only one of the pitchers has a handle, which may or may not have been intentional. The pieces are a bit dusty so must have been displayed at some point. The egg measures 1 1/4" by 1" and has no chips or cracks. For some reason, a hole was pierced at each end of the egg-- see the last two photos-- perhaps to suspend this from a very fine string.
