DESCRIPTION: Grainmeasures (wooden buckets) were commonly found in country stores in diverse sizes. As the name implies they were used to measure out grain in precise amounts. They were usually constructed from oak which was bent into a circle and secured with a lap joint. This is an Antique Primitive Farm Grain Measure from New England , Circa 1800's. The Antique Farm Measure is Coopered and is made of Bentwood Oak. The Antique Grain Measure is Lap Joined with Antique Square Nails. One must look closed to appreciate the Antique Handmade Grain Measure that tells the story of Decades of use. There were cross Banded Wrought Iron Straps that once secured the Antique Oak Measure and one can see the remains of the Wrought Iron Straps. There is a large Wooden Strip that secures the bottom of the Measure as seen in the photos. There are two antique wooden slats that are secured into the inside of the Primitive Oak Measure. The Antique Coopered Farm Measure is Strong and Sturdy and there is nothing Rickety about this Antique Farm Primitive. Antique Nails grace the entire Antique Bentwood Oak Measure. The Antique Farm Measure is in Excellent Condition with an Age Appropriate Patina. MEASUREMENTS: 16 Inches Wide, 7 1/2 Inches high and 48 Inches Round in Circumference.
