we have to offer you a very fine, most unusual antique rose gold ( filled or solid, unknown which) very fancy double locket pendant/ pocket watch fob, from circa 1870! And the piece is in very good condition for its age! It still contains an intact picture of some elderly lady, in the right side , protected by glass, and a lock of hair, on the left side, also still protected by the glass! The front cover is set with a beveled genuine bloodstone agate, a rare gem which is dark green in hue, with distinct small red dots! And the back cover is set with a blond piece of petrified wood ! I detect no damage to either stone... but they might look scraggly in the photos, as i did not clean or polish any part before photographing. This was a high dollar piece for its time, and is a very fine collectible, for right now....and future generations! It is a tidy 1" in diameter, and is 3/8" thick! The locket weighs 12.5 grams, a substantial hefty weight for so wee a piece. The hinges are well made and still work fine, and t is a tiny peg clasp, which fits snugly into a tiny hole on the right inside , and it stays closed securely. Behind the lock of sable brunette hair, we can see a bit of the blue fabric backing. I do not know what lurks behind the picture of the formidable lady, and i chose not to try to take it apart... I see no marking as to its gold content, or its maker, which is not unusual for a piece this old. The lady in the picture looks elderly, and she looks like an old spinster or widow, or school marm, who did not spare the rod! But that may be in part to her manner of dress. With magnification, her face does not appear that aged, or wrinkled, and her eyebrows and lashes are still thick and black. She has some sort of fluffy black thing atop her head, like a little rooster's comb. She has a white scarf wrapped around her neck in a bow tie, and i see some black of her dress, and a cameo at her throat. A lot of detail with a magnifying glass ! All in all, this is the nicest old locket of any kind, romantic or mourning, pendant or fob, to pass through our hands! Thank you for your interest!
