Antique 1859 14K Yellow Gold Coral & Pearl Flower Pin Presented is a great, 14 karat yellow gold pin or brooch made in America during the mid 19th century. The pin is in the form of a flower, its golden leaves are textured with detailed veins. The middle is set with a pile of alternating pearls and coral beads. The back is monogrammed with the initials CEP and the date January 1859. This is a beautiful, antique piece. The pin in the back is set higher than the middle to prevent it from leaning forward when attached to fabric. Although this piece is not marked, it has been tested with nitric acid and is guaranteed to be 14 karat purity. This old piece is excellent condition. I believe this piece was originally part of a larger piece of jewelry. Perhaps it was the clasp for a multiple strand necklace of coral and pearls. The current pin back on the reverse is a modern replacement. It is fine quality and the work was very well done. T are no missing stones, no breaks, no splits and no repairs and no other alterations. The pin measures 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The weight is 10.3 grams.
