Antique 1880's Mahogany Box Medical Kit 12 Instruments

This is one of the most interesting things I have ever had the pleasure to offer. is the original graduation diploma from the Bellevue Hospital Medical College in April of 1886. This belonged to Dr. William French Thurston. It is large, measuring 22" by 15". In the upper left hand corner is the indorsement and seal from the Bellevue Medical College. T is his Identification Card from New York too. The medical kit has his name engraved on the brass plate. The box is made os mahogany and measures 17" by 6" and 2 1/4" deep. In the lid are 7 surgical needles. T are three instruments, large shears, a long (9 1/2") hemostat type instrument and something that looks like a dental forcep. T is some old gauze as well. In the body of the kit the surgical knives have ebony handles and are imprinted wih Moore & Co. T is one that measures 14" long, one 9 1/2" long, a saw with cross hatching on the handle 8 " long, 2 small knives, a pick-like tool, an interesting round saw style tool, a heavy cutting tool, a bone smoothing tool, a lamp like thing possible for cauterizing with a base. T is some very old rubber tubing that is brittle. T is some corrosion on the hemostat type instrument. I have not tried to clean the instruments. They are "as is".
