Th is auction is for a very rare antique bronze Japanese medal that was made to commemorate the 25th wedding anniversary of the Meiji Emperor and Empress. The obverse is decorated with two ho-o (imperial phoenix) and a kiri (paulownia leaf). The edge is encircled with the shochikubai motif too. The back is clearly dated MEIJI 27 NEN 3 GATSU KOKANOKA (March 9, 1894) and shows that it's for the TENNO KOUGOU TAIKON 25 NEN NO SHUKUTEN (Emperor & Empress 25th Wedding Anniversary). The condition is excellent, a few tiny edge marks, nothing big at all. Overall condition is great. Take a moment to look over the details, it's a fantastic piece, especially considering it's over 118 years old. This medal comes in the original fitted case. Case has some wear but overall in very good shape still. The medal measures 54 mm in diameter and approx. 6 mm thick at the edge. It weighs 91 grams.
