This medal was found in a dig at the town of Arequipa , Peru under a road that goes by the Dominican Convent t It had no bail so we added one in sterling silver, so the medal could be worn once again. One of our Experts wrote in the following; "The reverse shows San Francisco Xavier, the other major early Jesuit saint, shown in the place of his death, the Chinese island of Sancien , w he was taken ill on his way to Japan , dying twelve days later. The place of death is usually shown as a ramada or a cave within sight of the sea, Sometimes included is a crab that came out of the water to return a crucifix that the saint had dropped during the sea passage." It is a bronze medal whose size is 1.5 inches and it weighs 19.8 grams. Good luck bidding! Pay for this online auction using BidPay ® - Seller BidPay ID: church-woman
