Item Description A lovely antique two-handled cup, complete with its saucer and cover, in the Imari palette, pattern 2412 by Royal Crown Derby. I’m not sure whether it’s a chocolate cup or cream soup coupe. T here are several more pictures of the three items at the end of these details. Approximate Size Cup ~ just under 2 ½” deep, just over 4” in diameter at the rim and 5 ¾” across from handle to handle. Saucer ~ 6 ⅛” in diameter. Lid/Cover ~ 4 ¼” in diameter. Condition Cup ~ some tiny dots of wear to the gilding on the rim and one handle and a tiny dot of excess paint inside the cup (which is obviously as made). There are no chips, cracks, crazing or other signs of damage. Saucer ~ no chips, cracks, crazing or other signs of damage and no apparent wear to the gilding. Lid/Cover ~ there is a fine crack across the finial and stress cracks to it as shown in the pictures below ~ due to the nature of the pattern, these are not very noticeable on the top of the cover in normal circumstances. No chips, crazing or other signs of damage and no apparent wear to the gilding. Age The date cypher on the cup and cover are for 1900 and that on the saucer is for 1898. Maker’s Marks The Royal Crown Derby back marks on each piece are like that shown below ~ as previously mentioned, the date cypher on the saucer is for 1898. Comments read more
