Up for auction, in very good condition, is an ANTIQUE DIAMOND AND RUBY STICK PIN in the form of the WINGED GRIFFIN, CRAFTED IN 14K YELLOW GOLD. This rare stick pin is estimated to be 106 years old!!!!
The Griffin is clutching a 2.8mm European-cut diamond which has tested genuine with a presidium diamond tester. The diamond is considered colorless (D-F) and the clarity is estimated at VS 1-2. The diamond is very clear and has lots of sparkle. The diamond weight is estimated at 10-12 points considering it is a European-cut stone. The griffin has a 1mm genuine ruby ball for it's right eye. The stick-pin's sliding clasp is made out of brass. It has an ingenious internal mechanism which releases the tension on the pin by pulling down on the ball. The clasp is hallmarked - PAT. MAY 20 - 02 HOLD. The brass clasp has a hair-line crack which does not affect it's functionality. The griffin stick pin is hallmarked with what appears to be an arrow through a crescent moon and the number 14. The griffin and the stick pin have been tested by the stone & acid method and proved to be 14K gold. This beautiful antique 14K gold stick pin weighs 3 grams without the brass clasp and 4.4 grams with the clasp. It measures approximately 5/8 inch wide and 2 3/8 inches long. This diamond and ruby gold winged griffin remains unique and in very good condition after 106 years and it will fill a very special place in your collection!
