For your consideration an antique barber shop electric customer indicator. Fresh from a local estate. The piece is in good condition. It is made of metal and set into a wood frame. The frame has four mounting screw holes and is painted white. It can be removed from the wood frame if so desired. I am not sure if it is original to the frame as the metal case is brass highlighted on the sides. The metal case is made of brass. The front is marked THE BARBER SHOP ELECTRIC INDICATOR CO. SAGINAW, MICH. It has a last patent date of June 14th 1904 There are two holes in the front that have numbers on a wheel behind them. Each of the holes has a seperate wheel with numbers to show which customer is next. It is electric operated and there are two wires sticking out of the back. I have no way to test it to see if it still works. I think this is from a very large barber shop where the men would wait in a seperate room or parlor. All they would have to do is look at the sign and see if their number was up and they were next. I have never seen a barber shop piece quite like this one before and it is pretty neat and unusual. Overall it measures 17 1/4" in width by 14" in height by 2 1/2" in depth. The metal case measures 12" in diameter. It weighs about 10 pounds. An excellent addition to any vintage barber shop or antique collection or if you just want to own a really neat old sign. I am selling this item with no reserve.
