GREAT PIECE OF EQUINE HISTORICAL EPHEMERA ~ MORGAN HORSE REGISTRY CERTIFICATE FOR 1888 FOAL H. M. STANLEY! This is a great piece...especially if you are a Morgan Horse breeder or historian. The Morgan Horse played a fabulous roll in the Civil War, and became the only horse breed ever fostered by the U. S. Army Cavalry. This certificate of Registration is for #4837, who is named H. M. Stanley, a light chestnut. Bred by E. P. Brainerd of Vermont, got by Allen, son of Star Ethan...which is a reference to Ethan Allen's connection to the Morgan Horse industry's famous horses and lines. More references to relatives of this foal are listed. The horse is later noted as a sire in historical records of the Association. Signed in 1904 by H. C. Shaw, Assistant Registrar and registered by Lawrence Brainerd of Chicago, Ill. The piece has been held within a vinyl cover for many years and will be forwarded to you in the cover. As you can see, t is evidence that this was a tri-fold piece with fold lines showing...minor fragility, but no tearing or major issues. Measures in at 11 & 1/2" x 9". Great item for your collection at a low opening bid with no reserve. Ask questions if you have them...will be carefully packed and shipped promptly upon confirmation of your payment. Insurance is recommended , and not included in the shipping calculator quote. Please do not anticipate that we will "make good" any item damaged by the USPS or UPS systems due to mishandling. If you do obtain insurance, and have a claim, we will provide you with the proper paperwork, but you must proceed from your end with the claim. You may be asked to provide the original box and contents to the USPS or UPS prior to their processing the claim. Failure to do so will nullify their requirement to reimburse you for your loss. Additional Packaging Requests : We have received a few requests to " double box " our items. While we take great care to pack our items normally, we do not generally double box. To do so adds to the weight and expense for shipping. Please be aware that if you make this request, you must do so prior to paying as your invoice must be adjusted to accommodate the additional shipping weight. Do not wait until paying to include a "note" with your payment, as we may then be unable to comply with your request.
