Caucasian, Armenian hand knotted Parade-Kazak Dated 1910 , signed and adorned with additional scripture, that I can´t read, unfortunately) Anyhow: For what no one needs glasses is the fact, that this is a real spectacular piece of Armenian knotting art that cannot be more genuine. Far away from the boring always similar looking colours and pattern of those off the peg pieces, that were produced by the ton in the 1960 s and are offered all over all as antique Caucasians meanwhile. It doesnâe(tm)t really need to be mentioned, cause everybody sees it in the lovable abrash (colour play) Only natural dyes and highland wool were used. Together with the will of the artist to create something very special, this incredible piece of art arose. It is for sure no accident that in an Armenian (Christian) rug the lower medaillon looks like it looks. ( See the upper end) The trees of life on the left and right side of the upper medaillon stand for the eternal life in heaven. Armenians as Christians did not like to display the islamic mirhab and used to knot their pieces, oftenly order works, with hidden or obvious Christian symbols All in all one can only say: This piece is unique as can be and an exhibit that a lover of Caucasian, specially Armenian knotting art MUST have. The rug has no holes or tears. All you see ( looking like worn parts or stripes) is simply the colourplay (abrash) of all the different wool sorts. The piece is in an outstandingly good condition for its very high age Its dimensions: 6.88 x 4.82 ft After a question I am happy about I beg to add this info: T is ABSOLUTELY NO discolouring or colour mistake in this rug. It looks like it looked the first day. This effect, the abrash, is also caused by lots of wool charges and natural colours, that dyed the wool so differently. It is is a true nomads piece. This abrash is absolutely no mistake, but a searched feature, you only find in tribal pieces this way. Just imagine: Nomads didnt have tons of wool that was somehow assorted but simly took what they had. And pieces like this, really rare and not only by the chattering of a seller, are the product.I personally like the charme such rugs have. Not perfect, not produced as yard goods and simply authentic. But in a condition that is nearly unbeliavably good for a rug, gettin 100 years old in less than 14 months. Dear visitors.
