Another awesome antique sports collectible from HAMMER SPORTS RELICS ! Relic up for bids is a rare patent date 1916 Spalding leather football helmet! The leather still has it's 100% original intimidating black patina and carries a great shine! NO dyes or coloring of any kind used on this helmet or on any of the relics we sell. As you can see in the photos, the leather is still in great condition and holding tight! It still has that antique helmet smell we all know and love! All the inner elastic straps are firmy in place. The wool interior on this beast is in great condition! All the wool is thick and firmly attached and it is pretty clean! Marked on the inner leather strap connector pad is PAT. OCT. 3, 1916 No. 1200130 (see close-up). Also marked on the pad is "1/8", which is also marked on the left front skull cap. We think it must mean size 7 1/8, which is a surprize because this is a very large helmet for it's era. The Spalding makers mark is located on the left rear of the helmet. This helmet also has the original cloth chin strap with leather connecting ends. This helmet would look amazing displayed in your office, sports room, or man cave!! This helmet will be shipped to you directly from the home of pro football and the Canton Bulldogs, Canton Ohio! Stand Is Not Included.
