Antique 1920's Cincinnati Victor Co. Luminaire Funeral / Mortuary Fan Cast Iron. This fan made by the Cincinnati Victor Co., and was made for funeral homes and mortuaries for use in the display of the deceased. The purpose was to shoo flying insects and odors away from the casket and to illuminate the deceased with warm color lamps. Very ornate cast iron painted in a bronze color. This one is all original, with the exception of additional wiring installed at some time ago. The wiring looks to be for the fan alone. However, the replacement wires have become hard and brittle, and there is no plug as well. Because of these factors, we have decided not test the operation of the fan. It will need to be re-wired for use. The condition is excellent for a cast iron fan of this age. Please note, there are a few listed on Ebay and other sites, for more money, and all of them, that we have found, have either broken or missing pieces. This one is complete, without any damage to any of the cast iron anywhere and no missing pieces. Even the original on/off switches are intact. A truly unique piece that will start many conversation for years to come. What a great gift idea for the special person with unusual interests.
