I acquired this beautiful and very old antique candy dish compote from a woman who's mother (88 yrs old)owned it back in the early 1920's!! It is made from heavy deep colored cranberry glass with frosted glass in the middle and a wide frosted border on the lid. (I've never seen one with both the cranberry glass & frosting, quite unusual!!) What's so unique about this, is that the design of the bird on the tree branch in cranberry with gold throughout shows thu!! Very beautiful!! There's also a little leaf design around the back which I've photographed. It measures 6-1/4" high to the top knob. There's a number on the bottom, either 18 or 81, (which every way you turn it?) which I've also photographed. There's also a number, either 51 or 57 on the inside of the lid rim. This piece is in perfect, un-chipped condition. There is one very tiny area where the cranberry color is gone, but so un-noticable, I almost missed it! The few dark areas around the bird are in the frosting, making it a bit darker which are grossly exaggerated in the close-up photo. PLEA SE VIEW ALL PHOTO'S BELOW TO SEE JUST HOW GORGEOUS IT IS...
