A uction D escription Up for your consideration is a pair of Rare Painted Cast Iron Hubley Bookends. This exceptional pair is totally old, large, and substantially heavy. These signed Hubley pieces are circa 1925 and are a fine example of the craftsmanship that this company is well known for. This Dutch Kissing pair is quite light-hearted and fun, and the pieces are in good condition, especially considering their ages of over 80 years. The children depicted in the bookends are shown sneaking a kiss atop a grassy mound. The casting is amazing and shows the boy holding the girls cheek while planting a peck upon her lips. The girl holds a flower that the young gent has just given her, which most likely led to this playful smooch. This is a fully dimensional pair, molded in the round, and retains most of its original antique painted finish. These can be found in a number of Bookend Reference Guides, including the original Hubley Art Metal Goods Catalogue - Production Number 332. Both pieces stand at 4 ¾" Tall, 4 ¼" Wide, and 2" Deep, and weigh 2 lbs each. Both are signed Hubley #332. The face of one boy is rather dark from the underlying aged iron, but aside from that, this is a nice antique pair that would be right at home in any bookend or Hubley collection. Take a look at the actual photos below to see what is being offered. These could be ideal for the Collector and Bookend Enthusiast. Please feel free to email with questions, inquiries, or any additional information. This item has already been professionally packed and is waiting to be promptly shipped via USPS.
