RARE AND UNIQUE VICTORIAN CASKET ANTIQUE MID - 19c 19th CENTURY WROUGHT IRON JEWEL BOX FREE SHIPPING! We are please to offer an elegant Antiqiue Wrought Iron Casket; both highly decorative, as well as utilitarian. Likely originally used as a travel box or jewelry casket for the elite, it would certainly be well-suited as a caddy, a sewing box, a cigar or cigarette presentation box, or a trinket box, to name a few. This box could also be a beautiful heirloom, or a charming Bride's Box. The carved wrought iron is superbly designed with vines and leaves throughout as shown in the detailed photos. Lovely harlequin detailing on the top accented with finials on each corner and dental edges. The finials are also present on the base corners. The base itself is adorned with a scalloped edge, enhancing the beauty of this piece. The background seems to have been carved with a rock detailing. Original Soft Velvet Lining in a Rich, Deep, Royal Cranberry or Burgundy (color may show a bit different on various computer monitors/displays). Originally, we acquired this piece without the key, however, after a painstaking search, we have found the perfect elegant antique key which opens and closes the working lock. The box features a Concealed Keyhole, as there is one Leaf that can be moved in front of the lock to conceal the keyhole, or the Leaf can be moved to the right to reveal the keyhole...very rare indeed. Condition: Photos show the condition of this piece very well; as shown there are some marks on the velvet lining, and a few bends of iron here and there, however, overall, the casket will surely be the conversation piece of the century when displayed. Approximate Measurements: 8 1/2" W x 6" D x 5" H. ...and weighing nearly 7 lbs.! A One of a Kind Piece.
