26 3/4" Long x 5 1/2" WideUp this week on a seven day auction with no reserve is this great mid 19th wafer iron.
Signed on both sides with “no. 3”, each interior is decorated with the design of a lyre. Take a moment to look at the pictures and you can see the great signs of original casting and forged iron construction.
A piece such as this would have been perfect for making a variety of wafers, placing the batter on the sides of the plate then heating the piece within the flames of an open hearth or stove.
Heavy construction, the piece measures approximately “ in length and remains in very good condition with just some minor typical signs of oxidation from age.
Certain to be a great addition to any period metal hearthware collection, or perfect for display in a country kitchen.
