This Auction is For a Beautiful Antique C . 1860 14k . Gold & Seed Pearl Mourning Brooch , Together With Daguerrotypes Of the Original Owner And The Child Remembered
This auction is for a wonderful antique 19th century 14k . gold and seed pearl mourning pin , and a lovely daguerreotype of the sweet little girl remembered . this beautiful little mourning pin belonged to my great , great aunt , who had it made to lovingly remember her baby daughter who sadly passed away in a traggic accident . the childs name was mary , and she was playing in the yard with her nanny , who left her for a few minutes to get a favorite toy from the house , and while she was gone , the little girl wondered over to a fountain , fell in and drowned . she was born in 1858 , and died in 1860 . the pin itself is made of solid 14k . gold , and is adorned with lovely seed pearls , and delicate filagree bead work bordering the pearls ,with a beveled crystal glass insert that protects a beauifully braided lock of the loved ones hair . it is in excellent condition , with no damage or repairs , and the seed pearls are in excellent condition with no discoloration at all . it is monogramed on the underside , E . M . R . in fine script . it measures 1 1 / 4 inches x almost 1 inch . also included , are beautiful original daguerretypes of the sweet little girl who is lovingly remembered in the pin , and her mother , who is actually wearing the pin in this picture . the picture of the child is in overall excellent condition with just a a light area of shadowing in the center . it is housed in a blue velvet case with a clasp , and brass edge around the picture . image size is 2 1 / 2 inches x 2 inches , and overall is 3 inches x 2 3 / 4 inches . the daguerrotype of her mother is housed in a red velvet book tpye case with a hindged clasp. it has a brass picture frame border around the picture . as mentioned earlier in the listing , my great , great aunt is actually wearing the brooch for this sitting , as did she everyday for the rest of her life . the overall size is 2 inches x 2 inches , image size is 1 1 / 4 x 1 inch . also included , is the childs original 14 k gold and seed pearl christening pin , that should stay with the other items . not pictured , but also available to the winning bidder is the childs original christening gown which will be included upon request at no extra cost .
