From a local estate, this is a very early hand-turned and carved wooden chess set. The family from whom I purchased the set said that their ancestors emigrated from England about 100 years ago, so it is possible that this set could be English, but may be American: I`m not an expert. From information available online, I am believe that the set dates from the first half of the 19th century. T is one pawn missing, and one of the carved knights heads also missing, but otherwise its all t The pieces range in height from 1 3/4" to 3 1/4", and are in good condition for their age: just minor surface wear and t Shipping insurance is optional, Paypal, personal checks and Money orders are accepted.
