MASTERWORK LORD KRISHNA PLAYING THE FLUTE 21 inches Tall !
I will be listing a few select relics, votives and statues that I have collected over my many years of travels across the Himalayan territory- Bhutan, Tibet, Nepal and India. I can safely say all my pieces are genuine period items of rarity and very high value and unlike the majority of "antique works" listed by other sellers I have only a few that I personally search and acquire rarely purchasing from other antique stores unless my research reveals that the price is reflective of the workmanship and the true age of the art... Dimensions 21 inches tall 5.2 " inches at base 16 " inches around weight approx 25 lbs ! THIS STATUE IS A MASTERWORK NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE INCREDIBLE DELICACY ANDDETAIL THAT HAND CARVED THIS COMPLEX FIGURINE BUT ALSO THE QUALITY OF MARBLE USED IS OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY RETAINING IT WONDERFUL LAMBENT TONE AND CLEAR AND CONSISTENT COLOR OVER THE CENTURIES BECAUSE OF THE RARITY OF THIS STUNNING PERIOD PRAYING VOTIVE I HAVE PUT A RESERVE ON THIS WORK ALTHOUGH A REASONABLE ONE FOR THOSE WHO ARE COLLECTORS OF THIS PERIODS WORKS OR MASTERWORK RELIGIOUS ANTIQUES. I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST OF LUCK - BLESSINGS AND LIGHT! These pictures are hi-definition and hence large and take time to load but are definetley worth the wait! You are bidding on an extremely rare handcarved marble statue of the Lord Krishna. This statue is known as a "murti" as it was used in prayers and ceremonies dating back to the early 1800's. While I have had the honor of caring for and finding other statues of Lord Kirshna I have never seen a murti as rare and finely carved as the above piece that depicts the Great Lord Krishna playing his flute. This extraordinary masterwork depicts the Lord Krishna in his classicpose, legs crossed in perfect balance, body straight and fingers lovingly portrayed to display him playing the flute - an instrument who peaceful and joyful tune he mastered and entertained all with! In this masterwork carving of Lord Krishna , he is shown garbed in his flowing robes and elaborate head dress , his face exudes the confidence and strength of a born leader of men while his artisitc fingers are made with such a delicat eand precise touch that it is almost as of this figurine will come to life at any point and we too shall hear the music that he played flow through the room talking us back in time with it......Considering the age of this antique the statue is in very good condition with the exception of some very minute chips around the base of the work however this is only expected when such a fragile material such as marble survives over the centuries and I believe that it only adds to the character and charm of this rare period piece. Lord Krishna is the eight avatar of Lord Vishnu and regarded as the Supreme Person, the highest God. It is Krishna who is the speaker of the Bhagavad-gita , recognized throughout the world as one of mankind's greatest books of wisdom. In the Gita, as it is also known, Krishna says repeatedly that He is God Himself, the source of everything. He stayed on this earth for 125 years and played exactly like a human being, but His activities were unparalleled in helping humanity reach higher levels of love ,morality and spiritualityHE STANDS AN IMPRESSIVE 1 FT 9 inches TALL! AND 16 INCHES AROUND! The stone sculpture itself is precisely hand carved and boasts of a spiritual artist who mingled both traditional stone sculpting practice with grace and dynamism to create a sculpture of magnetic persona and energy that radiated from the core of this work outwards. This is certainly one of the most beautiful works of Lord Krishna that I have ever seen as not only is he blindingly detailed from his adorable smiling face to his infant underwear and detailed three dimensional carving but the most stunning aspect of this work has to be the incredible life and movement that the artist was able to create as his hands are held up with such precision ...
