COLLECTOR QUALITY ANTIQUE KURDISH TRIBES CARPET RUG. Persian Kurdistan, 2nd Half of the 19th Century. Exact size: 3'-4" x 6'-4" (102 x 193 cm). A lovely and very old antique Kurdish weaving displaying an allover grid of Chinese "cloud-band" motifs on an abrashed madder red field and nicely framed by a triune of border arrangements. This remarkably beautiful antique weaving possesses a wide and varied vegetal-dyed color palette including natural camel hair (see 2nd photo close up) and aubergine. The side cord overcastings are newer. The top and bottom end borders are original and complete and are sewn back secure to prevent loss. The carpet is in very good condition with lower pile through the central vertical axis. Minor areas of moth bites have been artistically restored using antique wool to perfectly match the original. A very special find for the astute buyer who recognizes the rarity and quality of this offering. The weaving has been professionally cleaned and is now ready for a collection, for use on the floor, or to be used as a very dramatic wall hanging for the home or office.
