Antique 19th C Quilt Frame Lace Curtain Stretcher12' x 6' small nails every 1" to Hold Quilt or Curtains This is an amazing piece. We bought this in Lancaster County, in the heart of Amish country at an Amish auction in the dead of winter. Because of winter we could not set it up outside, so we waited for a beautiful spring day, today. We put this up last week and immediately started getting emails that this is not just a quilting frame, BUT was used as a lace curtain or drapery stretcher or dryer. So is the relisting of it with the proper additions.This is a late 1800's early 1900's quilting frame or lace curtain dryer/stretcher also used for drapery. It comes apart into seperate pieces, it makes a HUGE lean-to frame when put together, measuring 11' 8" wide by 5' 10" high. Of course it is made to adjust down to whatever size you are working on or more likely displaying. It has one inch increment markings on all the boards. Unlike more modern frames, this one uses small sharp nails every one inch along all the sides to hold your material tight. Obviously this did not come with any instructions so we put it together the way it seemed correct, but are not positive that we got everything just right. We did not tighten anything down so it appears to sag in various parts. We were told for curtains or lace, you starched them and stretched them out and they would dry crisp and perfect. is what one eBayer wrote us; "Just thought you would like to know. What you have is a set of curtain stretchers. You wash your lace curtains, then set the frame to the proper size. You go along each edge and hook the very edge of the lace curtain on the nails. You set it outside to do this. The sun drys and whitens the curtains and they dry exactly in shape. I have my grandmother's old stretchers and it is the only way to go when doing up lace curtains. They dry very crisp and straight. Hope you sell them for alot. They are very hard to find these days." Even though this breaks down it will still have to go in a box over 6' long and has an estimated shipping weight of 20 lbs. so PLEASE email for a shipping quote.
