Great Architectural Lion! This was found in Plum, PA just last week in a barn before it was torn down. I believe it be 19th century but it's unmarked so it might be early 20th. I tried to show measurements in the picture - He measures a whopping 20" tall and 17" wide. He is **HUGE**. Weight about 30-40 pounds - I haven't placed it on a scale but I know that it's extremely heavy as I have personally moved this finely detailed guy. You can see he is 3D and is about 7 1/2" high when laying flat from the floor to the height of his nose. This is the original OLD thick heavy cast iron - this is NOT a reproduction and you WILL be pleased when you have him for your very own! In regard to detail you can see fine detailing in his fur, mouth eyes etc. His mouth is open and you can see his tongue, 2 canine teeth on top as well as on the bottom of the open mouth. His eyes are also very detailed and you can see w even his pupils have been cast. I took a photograh of the back of him as well as the front and if you look closely you can see 2 bolts w he was originally in two pieces and the mouth and snout area had to be welded?? on to the other piece of cast iron making up the rest of the head. He was never broken but you can see this is how he was originally put together. This is an archietctural piece and I believe it must have been attached to the front of a building by cementing in somehow as t are no holes drilled in him. He'd make an awesome garden decor lion and would look even better affixed to the front of an iron gate or oversized front door T is a small amount of rust around various parts of him but as you can plainly see, whoever stored him in the barn took great care and the black paint is still shiny in most places. T is also a layer of dirt that I did NOT remove so if you care to analyze the barn dust you can feel free to authenticate the background I have highlighted for you. :-) I am very upfront about the few pieces I auction so you can rest assured that what you see is what you get and you will NOT be disappointed. The shipping on this piece is going to be $40 by DHL ground and worth every penny. They will deliver it right to your doorstep and it will arrive in the exact same condition as what you see. If you wish to pick him up in person in the Pittsburgh area you are welcome to save the money on shipping - heck, $40 is a tank of gas these days - and *I* drive a Prizm! I am starting this out at $9.99 with no reserve and wish you the best of luck. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have before bidding and please prepare to send payment promptly as it's expected within 7 days. Just a small reminder about bidding BEFORE the last 30 seconds.. I sold an apothecary chest 2 weeks ago and someone emailed me asking if it was possible for another ebayer to knock them offline because they had logged into the auction during the last 2 minutes and then gotten knocked offline when they went to make the final bid. We all know another ebayer can't do that to you but your provider CAN have problems so please be prepared. I wish you the best of luck and know you will love leo as much as I do ;-) Jaq
