Medaille D'or Pons 1827 Figural Two Part Mantel Clock
19th Century Old Paris two-part mantle clock; Rococo Revival hand painted base with a Roman numerial porcelain clock face. Figural top with a soldier in Turkish garb mounted on a grey dappled horse fighting off a Bengal tiger. Suberb quailty and fine detail. This is a 8-day time and strike mantle clock. Movement reads Richond F Pari 2288, Medaille D'or Pons 1827. Base has an ink stamp MV mark and the figural section has an ink stamped M3 mark. The clock is working and chiming and has the original pendelum and key. The Turkish rider has lost half of one foot and the entire other foot and one hand to the bengl tiger. The fiesty tiger also managed to consume one and a half of the horses ears, and both front hooves. The bengal tiger is obviously winning this battle, as he has no limbs or ears missing. As a matter of fact, he is in perfect condition. The green ground cover is missing some of t tips. The riders cape is missing a small portion of a fold. In spite of the above mentioned carnage, this piece displays absolutely beautifully. The breaks are very clean . The base of this two part mantle clock is in excellent condition with little to no paint loss, and could stand alone or with a replacement figurine. Overall measurements are 19.25" tall, 10.75 wide and 5.25 deep. Buyer will be very pleased.
