Antique 19th Century Washstand/Commode Its late Wednesday evening, and I just found out a little while ago about today's one-day 15 cent listing for ebay sellers, and this is one of my last higher dollar items which I wanted to get listed before the midnight deadline. Didnt have time to weigh, measure, take pics, etc, so I just wanted to get this listed, and will come back in the next two or three days when I have a moment to revise the listing and give a complete description with plenty of pics, shipping information, and all that jazz. Its a smaller commode, with two doors on the front, and some nice mill work. I am not sure of the type of wood. It appears to be mainly oak, but could be ash or chesnut. The drawer fronts are joined by circle and pin, which dates this to the middle of the second half of the nineteenth century. Its it fairly good shape. The top has a few light stains and the finish on the top is somewhat worn, so If I were buying this for myself, I would consider refinsihing the top. Anyway, I will provide plenty of pictures and a full description in one to three days when I get a chance, so, if at all interested, you may want to put this on your watch list and check back later. Its a neat and cute little piece, the design of which I have never seen bfore in my 15 years of antiquing, and I think you might like it. Thanks. Revision 12/31/06: Pics have been added. Piece measures 30 3/4 inches wide by 16 inches deep. Floor to surface of piece is 28 inches. Floor to top of backsplash crown is 36 inches. I intend on removing the backsplash before shipping. It attaches with screws, and leaving it on adds just enough size to the box to almost double the shipping cost. Piece is fairly heavy for its size, weighing in at around 65 pounds. The shelves in the bottom apperar to be newer wood. Very sturdy. All joints still nice and solid. Shipping by FedEX ground is $65.00. Transit time is around 3 business days to either coast.
