Antique 19thc Parian Figure of a Setter (Or Italian Greyhound) c1849. Minton? Rare Parian figure of a Setter (or Saluki?) dog standing 7.25 inches high (18.5cms) on a base 3.25 inches across. The modelling is exquisite, the feet and head particularly so. The condition is very good with just some firing flaws so often seen in this medium. The figure is unmarked as to manufacture but Minton did do a similar figure in Parian shape 119 (c1850-70) see page 98 fig. 223 in the Parian Phenomenon -originally called a SETTER but later described as a PERSIAN GREYHOUND. And also an Italian Greyhound (shape 120) page 63 Fig. 78 in the same publication. Another similar figure can be seen in DOGS IN ENGLISH PORCELAIN of the 19 th Century by Dennis Rice page 140. This gorgeous, seldom seen possibly Minton Setter displays very well indeed. The photos do form part of the description. I will ship world wide. Overseas buyers Pay pal only please. ~~~~~~
