ANTIQUE 19thC. ENGLISH JEWELRY BOX GREAT VALENTINE'S DAY GIFT! A beautiful addition to a dressing table, this is a 19 th C. English jewelry box. Has a toasty, mellow finish and a wonderful patina. The exterior is English walnut and features Tunbridge inlay, popular in the mid-late 1800’s. Has a black rimmed lid and a brass inlaid medallion on the lid.The interior has been professionally updated for jewelry, beautifully executed to create a lovely clean finish.The top tray has space for rings and bracelets; the bottom is divided for earrings. Velvet lined lid, bottom, and tray.An interesting bit of information about the exterior of boxes like this, is that they were made in England in the early/mid-1800's by craftsmen without the use of electricity! No power tools. Rather amazing skills they had for sure. As you can imagine, boxes like this are becoming more and more rare and to be able to preserve one is quite important. Condition (see photos):To be expected in a box +/- 140 years old, there are a few spots of wear, cracks, and repairs that actually add to its character. There is a lockset in the box, but the escutcheon has been blanked out to improve the appearance of the box.
